Art

At Bude Primary Academy – Infants, our Art and Design curriculum is designed to stimulate creativity, imagination and individuality. We believe that art gives our pupils the skills, concepts and knowledge necessary for them to respond personally to works of art and to express their individual and collaborative ideas, emotions and experiences through their own making. Through curriculum encounters with line, colour and three-dimensional work, our children are empowered to build confidence and competence using a variety of media.  

During their time at Bude Primary infants our children will:  

  • Use a range of materials creatively to design and make products.  

  • Use drawing, painting and sculpture to develop and share their ideas, experiences and imagination.  

  • Develop a wide range of art and design techniques in using colour, pattern, texture, line, shape, form and space.  

  • Learn about the work of a range of artists, craft makers and designers, describing the differences and similarities between different practices and disciplines, and making links to their own work.  

  • Begin to understand how artists and makers are compelled to respond to their world through art, how they develop ideas from each other and how they critique their own and other’s work.
