Year 1 - Rowan

What makes me and my body marvellous? How do our senses work? How can animals be grouped? What is my own personal history? How have things changed from when my grandparents were my age? This term we are going to be exploring our wonderful selves. We are going to be learning about our own personal history and making our own chronological timeline of our lives including any significant events that we have experienced. We will be exploring and handling old toys from the past and thinking how they were used as well as asking questions about them. In art we will be looking at the Artist Kandinsky and replicate some of his famous pieces whilst exploring primary and secondary colours. As part of our Literacy unit we will learning the repetitive story of Brown Bear, Brown Bear What can you see? And thinking about how we can describe ourselves and others using adjectives. In maths we will be beginning the term with our unit on place value and securing our understanding of numbers.

• Daily equipment - Please send your child with a water bottle every day and a weather appropriate coat. Both of which need to labelled to avoid it getting lost. 
• PE - is on a Monday and a Friday. Please ensure your child brings their P.E kit to change into on that day. Please ensure that each item is clearly labelled.
